HTML clipboard ![]() Waterworld Safari is one of three amusement/water parks in the greater Phoenix area. The other two are Golfland SunSplash in Mesa, and Big Surf in Tempe. One of the main attractions is Serengeti Surf, the 650,000 gallon wave pool. If you have rented a tube, you can use it in the wave pool. Otherwise, just splash around in the waves. Waterworld Safari Tip #1: Your daily admission allows you access to the park all day long, until close. You can even go home and come back later in the same day. Lazy River at Waterworld Safari Grab a tube and take a lazy ride down the Zambezi River. Float around and around and around... Waterworld Safari Tip #2: No outside rafts, tubes, or water toys are allowed at Waterworld Safari. If you decide to leave and come back, let the people at the raft rental area know, and they'll set aside your raft for when you return. Children's Play Pool Jungle Jim's Children's Play Pool is a little wet African safari for the younger kids. They can play on and in the animals while splashing around. Waterworld Safari Tip #3: No food, accept water in sealed bottles, is allowed to be brought in to Waterworld Safari. All food and refreshments must be purchased on the ground ![]() Cango River Rapid:
There's a lot to do in this activity pool designed for kids from 4 to 12 years old. They'll have a good time playing in the waterfalls and trying out all five water slides. Waterworld Safari Tip #4: Make sure everyone has a towel, plenty of waterproof sunscreen, and a hat. You can rent a locker for the day. Water slides: There are several classic water slides at Waterworld Safari. Water slides are included in your regular admission. Pictured here are the Black Mamba and Togo. The totally black, totally enclosed Black Mamba is right next to the open Togo slide that has two complete turns. Get to the top of the platform, and make your decision! You must be at least 48" tall to use these waterslides. Waterworld Safari Tip #5: Remember tip #4? Well take a look at tip #1 again. If you don't want to rent a locker, you can always leave some sunscreen and other non-perishable snacks and supplies in your car. Go out to the parking lot, reapply your sunscreen, make a call on your cell phone, eat a few crackers, and head back to the wave pool! Out of the waters: There are plenty of shady spots, tables, benches, and chairs at Waterworld Safari where you can relax in between dips, or from where you can keep an eye on the kids. There's also a small arcade where kids can take a break from the waterslides and test their video game skills. Waterworld Safari Tip #8: You can bring your own chair into Waterworld Safari. Directions and hours: Waterworld Safari is open daily from May 24 through August 10, 2008, then weekends only until September 1, 2008 (Labor Day Monday). Monday through Saturday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Waterworld's Night Splash schedule is Saturday nights, June 14, 2008 through August 30, 2008 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Check for closures due to special events.
